Here are the different stages of mealworms (mini worms to pupae to beetle/mealworm). These are what Miss Lizzie found in the mealworm container.

When we came back to school Miss Lizzie had an interesting discovery to share with the class. She had been finding black beetles in the mealworm tub! So she decided to do a bit of research and found out that mealworms have a whole life cycle! So on Wednesday, the 7th of October, Miss Lizzie got all of us to do a bit of research and found out there are 8 stages in the life cycle.

When Matilda went to the place of Jack's birth, she met his brother and sister, (he had 12 in total) and she was told that he actually ate the runt of the lounge (that's what you call a group of lizards) he ate his little sister!!! That's the reason that we got him, he is the biggest and strongest!

Here is a time lapse of jack

Jack posing for the camera.

Alex and Keeley weighed Jack and he weighs one hundred and twenty grams, WOW!! He's put on a lot of weight.

Today Keeley and Nyah measured Jack and found out that he has done a lot of growing recently, he is 28 centimeters long now!!

Ok,so time to fill everybody in on some important details about Jack.

He was born in Hoppers Crossing on the 29th October, 2014. I think his father's name is Boris. I need to check that though! Ruth and her son (a staff member from Waringa School, Hoppers Crossing) reared him until he was old enough to come to Star of the Sea.

Therese (Izaak's mum), Ruth and 30 or so children came on St Patrick's Day, to deliver Jack safely to us.

What lucky people we are to be blessed with such a beautiful little class pet!!!!

Holidays with Jack

These holidays Jack has been learning some new tricks.

He will now eat meal worms out of my hand. Clever Jack!!!!!

When he is basking in the sun he opens his mouth to regulate his core temperate. No, he doesn't want a drink like I thought. He is just keeping himself cool.

He has been eating a lot of crickets and mealworms. So much so, Jack is now 18.5 cms long. Thanks to Harrison for measuring him this morning.

Hello and welcome to the first blog entry on Jack, our new little friend...

Jack the Lizard was measured by Olly and Sam using Xavier's ruler. He's grown 2cm in 2 weeks. That's a lot of crickets!!!!
